Let's not forget CNN's and CBS news coverage.

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but here's a montage of opens and closes of nearly every Southern and Central California TV station from 1993. That open from KTTV is pretty sharp; I hadn't seen that one before.

While I’m on the subject of classic TV, have any of you guys ever been to the website of the Wolfson Archive? It has a treasure trove of South Florida TV clips (most of which seem to be from the master copies!) that are really worth checking out. Just search for the call letters of a certain South Florida station and you’re good to go. http://www.wolfsonarchives.info/search-the-catalog/
I know I've heard of it and been there.

That 7/4/86 KSDK update is interesting. When did the next theme debut? In the fall? I would assume that they would have rolled out the new graphics and music at the same time as the new NBC logo, but I don't actually know, because KSDK footage from that period is so scarce (despite someone out there having more video we haven't seen from the 80s, but they only ever post photos snapped off of a TV/monitor). The fact that NMSA still misdates this theme as 1981 when it most likely debuted some time in 1985 is a testament to how much of a black hole this period is.
Here's something that's unlisted from KPLR 1991.

I've never seen the Noticiero Univisión open at 1:09:47. Pretty good stuff.
Meanwhile, here's a KSDK news update from 1986:
Yep save it or upload it elsewhere before it gets taken down by the YT copyright boss

Never seen this before! (This is in Portugal. Italy's TMC also used the open animation, as seen in the second clip.)
Believe it or not, this theme is in the NMSA — WKCF 1993.

Link works fine for me, but I went and saved the audio just in case.
First theme is in the NMSA as WDIO/WIRT 1985...and going by this sample, it's tied to the network (note the WNT signature at the start). The other two are entirely new.
I figured out the problem. It was redirected to the mobile site so i had to click on the full page site and search the blooper page. I managed to save the other two that you forgot to upload.

In 2013, KAIT in Jonesboro celebrated its 50th anniversary. As I post this, the videos from their 50th anniversary are still on the website including some blooper reels. The second blooper reel contains some news opens including opens at 2:23, 4:15 and 4:49 with unknown news themes.
Hmm the link doesn't work.
