Big news out of Atlanta: Tegna's WXIA will start running 3 hours of primetime news weeknights on sister station WATL beginning Monday. New shows at 8p and 9p will join the existing 10p newscast. At 8p, they'll be the only option for news. At, 9p they'll be up against WPCH. And at 10p, they'll face off against powerhouse WAGA.

The 9pm news cast for CBS46 (WGCL) it airs on Peachtreerv (WPCH)  use to be good interactive show

they would take viewer comments and suggestions and air them live, Sharon Reed would livestream from her social media pages

while doing the show. Now the show as scaled backed and diegrssed it's just a straight forward news cast now.

I knew something wasn't going right with her the last past couple of days

she was on IG Live like she didn't care about her job anymore....Kinda like the

last few days during her tenured at KLAS (Las Vegas)

Edit: WGCL (CBS 46 ATLANTA) could use Demetria Obilor. I love me some Bobeth Yates but doing the traffic

isn't her strong suit and some days Rodney Harris has to pull double duties (Traffic and Weather) during the morning show.

WFAA is a shell of what it once was. And the team that has overseen much of this decline gets promoted? Another genius move by Tegna.

I have no problem with WFAA.

I guarantee you if you watch their morning show you'll enjoy Demetria Obilor's work.......

  4. More than anything the job will go to Shon Gables.

to me it seems like Tracye Hutchins actually enjoys doing the morning show.

Can't like I got sad a lil bit once Sharon announced shes leaving

I really enjoyed her work shes very passionate.

My guess her next stop is for the big time CNN or NBC Morning Show

I'd be shocked if she stays in Atlanta (WSB or WXIA ect)

Could Karen Minton come out or early retirement and join WGCL, or are we ready for new chief meteorologist Ella Dorsey?

I'm not much of a fan of Ella Dorsey but it's all but said she'll get that position.

Not as the chief meteorologist but personally me, I would love to see WGCL give a few meteorologist spots to Bobeth Yates she's multi-talented.

Well that was sudden and unexpected.  Given WGCL's history it's hard to say whether this is just the typical WGCL revolving door or if he did something bad.

Paul has literally worked for every news station in Atlanta. It must just be him.

I notice Tracye Hutchins hasn't been on air for CBS46 in quite some time.

Shon Gable (CBS46) has been on medical leave

Funny,  Once I posted this Tracye returns to tv the next day.

After WFAA dumped them in 2005 for “skewing too old”.

No wonder why WFAA hired Demtria Obilor. They knew it would boost young viewership.

  9. She’s freelance I thought?

i'm no so sure of it. I know she does a tad bit of acting from time to time

Still that isn't an ''Excuse'' from jumping from news station to news station

Meteorologist Markina Brown is an actress herself (She recently just got booked for a Tyler Perry film)

And she sin't jumping from station to station, shes found her footing at CBS LA

  10. I can't imagine why it failed other than it went up against WAGA (which is why WGCL chooses to do a 9pm for Peachtree TV), but I thought that was great!

Also, and you can fight me on this, but Karyn Greer is so underrated. She is one of the best anchors the Atlanta market has ever had (almost up there with Amanda Davis and Brenda Wood, but not to the level of Monica Kauffman-Pearson) and I hate that both 11Alive and CBS 46 haven't kept her in a more permanent role for much of her time at both stations. If there's challenges behind the scenes that we don't know about that's understandable, but if there isn't than she has been shafted for years.

I agree Karyn Greer is underrated but I wouldn't put her amongst the ranks of those

anchors personally me I would put Lisa Rayam over Karyn Greer.

No order, I my fav Atlanta anchors

    Anchor: Lisa Rayam

    Sports: Ken Rodriguez

Weather: Ken Cook & Markina Brown (Shes was a head turner, ALWAYS grabbed your atttention)

    Investigator: Morse Diggs.

Honorable Mentions: Jeff Hullinger and Jovita Moore

  11. Well I'll be damned.

This is what news COULD look like on WUPA in Atlanta. It's unclear if these videos are just online only and only to help add video content to WUPA's digital platforms, or if this is actually a test pilot for eventual on-air newscasts. I found this news piece that says it was produced from KTVT in Dallas/Fort Worth and has the Atlanta's CW 69 logo on it and some janky green lower 3rds that may have once been the O&O style but were butchered severely. The virtual set leaves a lot to be desired as well.

I doubt CW would want to stick their toes into news market again

they've tried it over a decade ago and failed.

WUPA back when it was UPN 69 Atlanta

the news cast was produced by WXIA

  12. Well if you like the "experiment" then be sure to let the station ND know. They love the feedback from loyal viewers.

It actually might make a difference.

Appreciate it will take that into consideration.
