    CNBC might be due too

Yeah, I kind of agree but I also really associate CNBC with its flashy graphics, booming music, and endless sound effects, and I doubt any of that would ever change. They released new theme songs and some graphic modifications for two of its flagship programs over the past ~2 years and never made the transition into flat like we're seeing here for MSNBC.

    Stay tuned!

I will hold my doubts since nothing much changed in 2017 when they last had a huge lineup change, but we shall stay tuned indeed.

Yeah the new lower-thirds and bug is definitely being rolled out right now for actual programming, as seen here on Way Too Early. Literally none of this rebranding was necessary. I admit the look is clean and simple, but the font still feels so off-brand (even if NBC News Now did use it for the longest time).

  3. MSNBC seriously has a branding problem with their direct "Newsroom" competing offerings. They keep changing things around and I get that that has to happen to see what works, but these new show names are just not it. I would hope that they're temporary because they're just convoluted. I still don't understand why they need so many different anchors throughout the day, but that's another issue.

  4. This isn't really a lineup-related thing (well...it could be someday), but I thought this was a pretty significant grab for CNN:

She had a very prominent role with CBS so I did not expect this (I'm also just OOTL about her relationship with CBS these past few months).

Weijia and Ed have a larger role at the WH today and there's less upward room at CBS so I guess this was the best fit for her.

  5. Emilie Ikeda, reporter at FOX 5 Atlanta, is leaving the station. There was some buzz on her going back to Philly (being that she worked at FOX 29 and it was also her hometown) but she shut down those rumors in a comment by saying she's only going there for a bit before she moves to her next spot. I don't claim to know anything but she did follow some NBC accounts recently, so that's what I'll speculate on.

KTRK traffic reporter Kathrine Whaley will depart the station to spend more time with her family.  Her last day is March 25th.

Been numerous cuts/departures planned at KTRK since the pandemic began, most of which have rattled their viewer base. Wondering when we'll see any new hires coming onboard. Same with KABC.

  6. I agree that this is a slap in the face to Robb; it seems like they they felt they needed a Megan for mornings...but just not Megan herself. Way too much turnover still. Will they ever learn to just stop touching their lineup? They still have too many freelancers taking up various spots when actual teams would be much better for cohesion for the station but nothing tells me they're establishing anything solid.

As an aside, a small part of me actually thought CBS might have tried to lure Bill Bellis, but I figure he probably would've been too expensive and then they'd only have one woman full-time in a team of 4.

  7. Piers Morgan certainly made headlines these past two days, but over in Australia, Samantha Armytage actually made dramatic headlines for herself last week after she abruptly resigned from Sunrise, the top-rated morning program on Seven Network.

Armytage infamously made callous remarks about the Aboriginal community and the merits of adopting Aboriginal children into white families on the program back in 2018, which later forced the network to settle a defamation case. She also often fought against the tabloids, even compelling an apology from the Daily Mail after they themselves ran an infamous story on her, but still remained tabloid fodder throughout her tenure.

    Sydney Morning Herald

    Australian Broadcasting Company (ABC)

    The Guardian Australia

  8. You know, I'll commend you for taking a bold stance on this forum about NN, as it is, indeed, as you mentioned, a dicey topic. The sheer mismanagement of it all, and treating it like a pet project to feed Compton's ego is absolutely astounding and the Times article succinctly describes how hypocritical the network has been from the start. Yes, it is fair to say that the CNN/Fox sphere of television is toxic and an echo chamber and they're also just as much, if not more, of an ego-feeding mission for Zucker and Murdoch. But to prescribe to the world that you are better and fairer than others, and asking viewers to take your word for it, while you don't actually uphold those said standards, is shameful. For one to conduct strictly unbiased programming, one must actually invite varying fact-centered perspectives and challenge any soundbites and answers given. In addition to NewsNation, we should also properly scrutinize how dangerously large Nexstar is; no one has duly analyzed the influence Nexstar has, because the antagonization has been so centered on Sinclair. Seriously, one of Nexstar's Washington reporters actually interviewed an anti-immigration, white nationalist to discuss immigration policy last month and that package was sent out nationwide. Surely, that must provide plenty of healthy nuance for a divisive topic.

Former WITI morning anchor Nicole Koglin is joining WDJT in a mostly behind the scenes role as director of strategic initiatives, which will also see her frequently make on-air appearances

A reunion of sorts with Jessob Reisbeck. Nice to know she's employed again.

    Why would it be Candace?

Actually you're right, I kind of leapfrogged over their vets. I actually thought of Lauren Glassberg as well. But I don't see Sandra moving to mornings (I'm actually eying her retirement sometime in a few years) and so many people here believe (and seem to have anecdotal word) that Michelle prefers weekends. I love either, but again, yeah I just leapfrogged (oops) and assumed.

  11. Shirleen certainly has the potential to be national, but I don't know if she wants to...? Certainly she won't want to be a correspondent, with a soon-to-be 3rd child coming, since that job means lots of travel. But they also have plenty based at HQ in NY. If Shirleen might have a Linsey or Diane-adjacent role, where's the room for her? (if they grow their programs, then yes, there should be room) As for WNN, Kenneth and Shirleen are BFFs with a long history of course, but Mona's also been there not too long (relatively speaking) so I'm sure Shirleen won't be going there (plus the hours are even worse).

And I assume if Shirleen leaves, then Candace is her replacement? Love Candace and her live shots are great, but...will WABC actually pull the trigger? Anyways, I'm more of a pessimist, so I think Shirleen will stay put for a while and will actually be encouraged to do so for some time.

Frank Wiley has left WEWS from his role as reporter and 5pm co-anchor this past Friday.  He announced he's moving to Tampa for a role on a morning newscast, though he did not say which station he's going to.

I'm throwing my bets on WTSP. The station's former male Brightside anchor, Rob Finnerty, left in November. He also follows numerous WTSP people on socials.

  13. Going back to the Zucker exit conversation for a moment, I think it goes without saying that his influence isn't going anywhere any time soon when it comes to the top.

"Zucker lieutenant is a top candidate to replace him at CNN’s helm" (Dylan Byers, NBC News)

    Quote

Allison Gollust, a CNN executive and top lieutenant to Jeff Zucker, has emerged as the leading internal candidate to take over the network if Zucker steps down as president, two people at CNN familiar with the matter say.

  14. As originally shared in the other CNN thread, Brianna and Alisyn are also rumored to be doing a switcharoo, so I'm left wondering how that will affect the new weekday lineup as well. As of now, this leaves Poppy/Jim and Kate's "Newsroom" slots untouched, in addition to John King's noontime IP thing.

As for the weekends, if Ana is moved to weekdays, then we finally know where Jim Acosta's going (and it's most likely going to be basically a Jim version of Situation Room). And I'm also wondering who will join New Day Weekend with Christi? I can't remember exactly who filled in on the holidays, but I believe it was John Avlon. I think he, Laura Coates, or Erica Hill would fit the role, despite their current weekday assignments (just to name a few). Only reason I'm not saying Abby Phillip is she's busy with IP Sundays and I don't know if they'd ask her to do New Day right on top of it?
