It appears that WFAA can move 8.1 to the KMPX stick as soon as this deal closes.
So it seems as News 8 will be in KMPX now with the stronger signal

No way! Absolutely Not! They'll be a lot angry viewers calling, Facebook messages, and letters will disapprove if that happens.
@TexasTVNews as me and you both live in this market we already know how TEGNA treats WFAA. So that scenario is a good chance of happening and matter of fact I made a scenario of a realignment if it happens this fall.
Dallas/Ft.Worth Realignment
KMPX ABC 29. (TEGNA)
Fox 4. (O&O)
NBC 5. (O&O)
CBS 11. (O&O)
TXA 21. (O&O)
CW 33. (Nexstar)
Estrella 8. (Estrella)
Ion 68 (Scripps)
Telemundo 39. (O&O)

Tegna is making another buy, this time from Estrella Media.
They'll be purchasing that network's owned station in Dallas, KMPX 29, for $19 million. There are two important elements to this deal:
- Estrella will remain, on 29.1 apparently; there's a 5-year network affiliation agreement that will be part of this sale.
- There are triggering clauses in the agreement that then would allow Estrella, under a separate option agreement, to buy WFAA-TV (read: the VHF transmitter facility) for $5 million.
So if WFAA gets bought will TEGNA switch all of them to the Estrella and then the ABC affiliate goes to KMPX ABC 29
Just now, ABC 7 Denver said:I'm suspicious about what TEGNA's objective here is. Are they thinking that KDAF is going to lose their CW affiliation and be able to line up KMPX as a replacement. I think it's strange for them to buy a one-off Estrella station.
@ABC 7 Denver Nexstar won’t allow it..... because for 1 this is Nexstar’s flagship and KDAF will not be losing its affiliation no time soon unles Viacom gives it to KTXA and it becomes an O&O with KTVT

WFAA has renamed it’s 5pm show to “After the Bell”. KTVB has a new 5pm show called “The 208”.

That's their Investigative unit package. They've had it for a while.
From what I've heard from people "in the know":
-The weather graphics were only changed to the CBSN local package because most stations don't have the resources to maintain two looks.
-Any plans for new graphics are indefinitely on hold due to the Viacom takeover and COVID.
I'm considering closing this thread, it's becoming a "graphics speculation" thread where people just point out any random oddity as a "sign" of new graphics.
I do agree with you but I posted it because it kinda looked like those full screen graphics that have the CBSN look to them.

Really up to the individual stations if they want to bother downloading them. Not a hard-fast requirement. Mainly the tropical icons were updated along with a few other updates and a couple new ones.
Well then you know what any of them look like?

Updated icons had been in the works for months. They finally became available a couple weeks ago.
When are the rest supposed to debut on the air? I wonder why they keep switching the icon sets

It's no surprise that since Sinclair has taken over WOAI, that it has gotten preferential treatment over KABB.
When the graphics do launch, you'll notice that the standard package would have indeed looked better on KABB given that the FOX 29 logo already fits the color scheme. Want to guess the color scheme for the hybrid package? Look no further than the color scheme on WOAI's logo. How do y’all know that KABB is getting a hybrid or “lite” version of the package is it going to look different and better. Different iconography and etc?

This is a surpise but the set looks better than KDFW. And plus I live in the market can't wait to see how they do the newscasts next week.
