They finally picked one theme. Should've gone with The Rock new cuts but ok
Not so fast, only the noon newscast uses that open, these are the opens for a few of the others.

Atlanta News First reporter Asia Wilson and photojournalist Lauren Swaim were preparing to give a live report from the parking lot of the Clayton County Sheriff’s office just before 11 p.m. Monday. That’s when the crew said a man approached them, indicated he had a gun, and threatened to shoot them if they called for help.

I have been off my game visiting Huntsville for work:
- Missed this one today
- Missed WAAY’s most recent graphics change (while visiting)
- Missed WZDX’s TEGNA-fication by a day
- Missed WHNT’s Nexstar-ization by a week.
all of which were without my capture equipment…
My semester at UAH ended on Friday, and drove to Atlanta for the holidays on Sunday, and then they made the switch on Monday! I feel your pain.
I had been anticipating this switch since mid-October, so had been checking regularly when not in town.
Once again, I feel your pain.

If you put it one way or another, you could see on one end that Tegna has good production values, but on another, you get an annoying news theme (C Clarity) that “all stations HAVE to use”. I’ve seen stations like KYTX (on their morning show called “Morning Y’all”) use other themes for stuff. Totally weird.
I agree with this in its entirety. For example, a little over a year ago, WXIA began using a different variety of C Clarity, for open, closes and everything in between. However they only use a specific 30 second cut (open #7 on NMSA), but it quickly got stale in the ears.

In the short of it, they want their balance sheets to show lower operating costs than revenue so it boosts interest from perspective buyers. This is what Meredith did before they sold to Gray. If debt equity is high, this other method will be the most attractive things to Wall Street.
Thanks for the explanation, I didn't consider the operating costs themselves.

Scripps is prepping a sale.
Makes sense, however, have you read or heard anything else, or just using the evidence we've seen so far?
Also, if they were prepping for a sale, wouldn't they have kept the anchors, which is part of the value of each stations image with the public.

Obviously experiences differ by station...but good lord, are any of these news corporations good? Do I dare ask about Gray television
Has their been criticism of Gray, I have only heard things about Nexstar, Sinclair, and Scripps (just off the top of my head)?

This looks extremely similar to the NBC News Now graphics, just flipped, and taller.
NBC News Now
I would not suprised if it was done by the same team.

WSMV did the same thing a couple of weeks ago, and most recently changed their weather logo as well - removing the NBC peacock from their branding.

I wonder if this means that NBC affiliates will not display the Olympic Rings in their logos next year.

Why no GOP debate recap tonight?
Not the same channel, but there is a recap on NBC News Now

Less than 15 minutes into the GOP Debate on NewsNation/The CW... A couple audio issues that for a small market Sinclair station, it would just be Wednesday night, but really make this national debate minor league. Mics not adjusted before going live, a moderator coughing and clearing their throat while a candidate is giving their remarks...
They also failed to include a simple audible 90 second time, or it isn't picked up by the mics (which is another flop on its own).

When does the new weekend schedule start?

I wonder if they are going to invest more in their augmented reality sets/improve on them with these renovations to the main studio. Speaking of which, are any parts of their AR sets physically real?

Has there been any pattern (geographic, prior ownership) to which stations are getting the new graphics? Also, is the Meredith package an option for stations as well?

I have noticed that a lot of stations the used CBS Enforcer are now using CBS Local. My question is, is Gari retiring CBS Enforcer?

The KMOV rebrand pretty much says “ANF Jr.”, from the logo, to the graphics, to the set.
The only difference is that anchors at KMOV get chairs, while over at ANF, the anchors stand the whole time.

My biggest critique on Grayone, is that the L3s don't go from end to end on the screen. Just wasting space. (I know this is probably a relic of the 4:3 aspect ratio of the first 60 years of television)

Found a KMOV promo on youtube, it shows a taste of the new graphics:

I thought MSNBC change logo typefaces in early 2022?

I dont hear must criticism for Hearst and Graham.
From what I have heard, Hearst and Graham run their stations well. Also they don't own as many stations when compared to Gray, Nexstar, or Sinclair, which allows them to invest in the quality of their stations.

Yes, that story could definitely have been written better. There has been a lot of criticism of the Clayton County Sheriffs office recently, its hard to explain the situation, so I left a few links below if anyone is interested.
