  1. I look forward to resounding at length... it's been a long day for now. Bachatcha soon .. thanks!
  2. YES. This one (attached) is one of the arrangements (over a number of years) I did for my original 'WTNCF' theme that I composed for KCRA-TV Kelly Broadcasting in late 83 ... Thanks.
  3. He was the consummate professional .. a superstar in the market for sure!
  4. Wow. Yes, that's my theme and 1 of many large orchestral arrangements. FYI: I was hired by VTS to VP a new West Coast office presence (Studio City, CA) in late 86 - til my 1990 departure. Best I recall, at the time, I did make available my copyrighted tracks for jingles and news themes, etc for resale in non-compete/crossover markets... all up and up, contractual protections. Still very proud of that theme and is near and dear to my music career.
  5. Just found this, and glad to chime in on the FACTS. True, I composed the original theme for KCRA-TV whose slogan was "Where The News Comes First". My signed contract with the Sacramento based NBC affiliate clearly protected me as the Copyright owner of the theme notation and prohibited any rearranging or adaption related to the theme without my permission. Unfortunately, after many years of successful use of my composition, the copyright was violated, which led to litigation. I can also set the record straight on my involvement with VTS Productions (86-90) and the related drama. Let me know ... thanks! Hi. Earl Grizzell, here. Just happened on this site ... Thanks for the compliments. Would be happy to update all here and relay the FACTS on some issues in the wake of my original composition and production of the 5 note theme I wrote to compliment the spoken ID "Where The News Comes First". Let me know, thanks! Earl Grizzell, composer/producer THANK YOU! That's me and I have much to clarify for anyone who is interested.. Let me know, Earl Grizzell, Composer/Producer
  6. I was hired by VTS as a VP, writer/producer and oversaw the LA-based office/studio in the late 80's - 1990; If you want some insight, let me know.
  7. Yes. I wrote the original theme in’83/‘84. Would you like me to tell the back story?
  8. I was a composer producer in the late 80's for VTS (Earl Grizzell). Pretty sure this is a Brad Kelly composition.
  9. Hello, All ... I just stumbled on this thread while googling my history and am pleasantly surprised that so many folks are really knowledgeable and appreciative of the creation of news themes and jingles that I created back in the day.  Would love to clarify some of the history of my work for KCRA, KMSS, "TLV 12 Cares" featuring a Duet with Lee Greenwood and Marilynn McCoo .. and others ... You may be surprised at the "rest of the story" behind some of these themes.  I can attach videos if anyone is interested in the archives ...

Please do, Earl. I can tell you have a lot to share, and there is a lot that sounds interesting. I turned up some material on the TLV 12 Cares song last year when I worked on the WTLV article. KMSS is a new one on me. Did you do the "It's On Us" promo pack that a bunch of indies used (with Digital Images CGI animation) in the back half of the decade?

  10. I just stumbled across this connection that I Never knew existed while searching my past online ... I am a composer who did some of the music in question on some of your posts ... WTLV and KCRA among others. Would like to set the record straight with whomever is interested .. Thanks.  Earl Grizzell

Hi Earl, I'm all ears. Quite surprised (pleasantly) to see you here. I think this is the first time I've heard you and WTLV connected.
