Weeters 1919
I heard they don't like the newsroom anymore, so I guess that's one way to obscure it... Looks like they got a new desk too. EDIT: wide shot. Looks like they got a professional to do this. Samantha 2896
Eye-eye-eye! That is visual assault by CBS eyes. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/11254-wdjt-kinda-has-a-new-set/#findComment-66530 Share on other sites
trev57 46
That's a pathetic excuse for a new set. It makes WISN's new set look amazing. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/11254-wdjt-kinda-has-a-new-set/#findComment-66531 Share on other sites
Guest NewsHound
In the words of David Letterman from an old CBS promo: "It's that CREEPY EYE!" I guess it's acceptable for the 12 or 13 WDJT viewers to have eyes looking back at them. Kinda hideous. lazynetjunkie 34
Damn.. Well, I guess it's one step above the CBS News Up To The Minute set. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/11254-wdjt-kinda-has-a-new-set/#findComment-66549 Share on other sites
trev57 46
It just baffles me that someone there can look at that and go "Wow, now that looks good." Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/11254-wdjt-kinda-has-a-new-set/#findComment-66551 Share on other sites
bhratbrat 437
The news director of CBS 58 would also like to proclaim the sets budget technically went to hell. Thats why he couldn't hire us fine folks to do it. So instead he got some professionals from the country of Mexico to construct the set in where the news director wanted tons and tons of eyes looking at you. Therefore, here is the result Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/11254-wdjt-kinda-has-a-new-set/#findComment-66557 Share on other sites
Weeters 1919
Well, they did change something.... the orientation of one of the panels to obscure that support beam behind the desk. But now you can see the terrible door they don't want to get on camera! Gah this is the worst thing ever. lazynetjunkie 34
Really, what would you expect from a Weigel owned station? I'm sure company president Svengoolie personally approved WDJT's set update. He may have even designed it himself.. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/11254-wdjt-kinda-has-a-new-set/#findComment-66561 Share on other sites

ThatSowislander 52
Another reason why this market has become a joke. Really 58? Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/11254-wdjt-kinda-has-a-new-set/#findComment-66564 Share on other sites
Weeters 1919
Why is that door so terrible. Its a plain looking door. My sources say for the past few years they've been attempting to block all their shots in a way that keeps doors, support beams, and parts of the newsroom that aren't painted with the old graphics off screen. That's one of the reasons they have very few wide shots and I think it's also the reason sports is now done in front of a chroma wall, instead of at the desk with the two CBS eye windows in the background. tw-804 192
That's a pathetic excuse for a new set. Ditto. I said it once, and I will say it again: WDJT is, and will always be, a joke. LoadStar 364
Is it possible for CBS to do the same thing FOX recently did, and pull the affiliation from Weigel? And if they were to do so... who would be likely to get the affiliation? trev57 46
Could Sinclair (WVTV and WCGV) do a better job than what Weigel is doing? To be totally honest, yes. At least they could broadcast our local high school football games in widescreen. But that's just better as an overall station (management, bitrate, etc). As far as producing a newscast, I have no idea. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/11254-wdjt-kinda-has-a-new-set/#findComment-66614 Share on other sites

I'd imagine if they received the CBS affiliation and decided to produce newscasts, they'd add subchannels to generate additional revenue. I don't think we'll see that happen around here any time soon. The WTVW and KTRV affiliations getting yanked had to do with retransmission stuff and expired contracts. I think WDJT has an affiliation agreement through 2015 so they have a few years to get better (or worse) and by then anything could have happened.
