WDJT kinda has a new set

The news director of CBS 58 would also like to proclaim the sets budget technically went to hell. Thats why he couldn't hire us fine folks to do it.

So instead he got some professionals from the country of Mexico to construct the set in where the news director wanted tons and tons of eyes looking at you.

Therefore, here is the result

Well, they did change something.... the orientation of one of the panels to obscure that support beam behind the desk.

But now you can see the terrible door they don't want to get on camera!

Gah this is the worst thing ever.

Why is that door so terrible. Its a plain looking door.

My sources say for the past few years they've been attempting to block all their shots in a way that keeps doors, support beams, and parts of the newsroom that aren't painted with the old graphics off screen. That's one of the reasons they have very few wide shots and I think it's also the reason sports is now done in front of a chroma wall, instead of at the desk with the two CBS eye windows in the background.

Is it possible for CBS to do the same thing FOX recently did, and pull the affiliation from Weigel?

And if they were to do so... who would be likely to get the affiliation?

I really hope they consider it. And does it matter who gets the affiliation? They can't do a worse job than what they're doing at 58.

Could Sinclair (WVTV and WCGV) do a better job than what Weigel is doing?

To be totally honest, yes. At least they could broadcast our local high school football games in widescreen.

But that's just better as an overall station (management, bitrate, etc). As far as producing a newscast, I have no idea.

I'd imagine if they received the CBS affiliation and decided to produce newscasts, they'd add subchannels to generate additional revenue.

I don't think we'll see that happen around here any time soon. The WTVW and KTRV affiliations getting yanked had to do with retransmission stuff and expired contracts. I think WDJT has an affiliation agreement through 2015 so they have a few years to get better (or worse) and by then anything could have happened.
