Markets using the same title across-the-board...

Something I've found out from looking at the news openings of DFW in the early 90s is that Chicago today is not the only market to use the same title across the board (at least for the Big 3). DFW at one time used variations on the same title for its major stations. In the early 90s, KDFW was "News 4 Texas," KXAS was "Texas News 5," and WFAA was "News 8."

That said, do you know of any other markets who did what DFW did then and Chicago does today?

The only way you could get away with that is to have a real generic title, like News 2/3/4/5/etc.

Well, now that I think about it, you could get away with it, like in the late 90's in Utica, New York. In 1997 WUTR became NewsChannel 20 per the Ackerley mandate. Problem is, WKTV was already using the NewsChannel name (and still is today). WUTR was seemingly oblivious to this fact, however, they kept the NewsChannel title, simultaneously with WKTV, up until 2001. Two stations, both with the NewsChannel title.

Good point, there! Down here, WYFF is "WYFF News 4" and WLOS is "News 13."
