TVNewsRI 4 Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Derry, NH licensed WBIN (formerly WZMY, the MyNetworkTV affiliate in the Boston market) is scheduled to launch a 10 PM newscast tomorrow night according to program guides. Owner Bill Binnie also mentioned it during a July interview with TVNewsCheck: "We are completely rebuilding this station physically in 10 weeks. I don’t know of another station in a major market like ours where we have seen it overhauled so quickly. We’ll have a newscast by September. We’re going to HD in 60 days or 90 days. We are completely overhauling our programming grid and will have that done by the end of the year." The last time that station offered news was from 1998-2007 as WNDS and WZMY. After that, they continued to produce hourly weather updates during primetime until December 31, 2009. Binnie purchased the station and changed its call letters this spring. It's hard to imagine that a startup with presumably few resources would be able to compete with the established Boston stations or NH powerhouse WMUR. Add to that the fact that they have not promoted the newscast at all. Attached is the snapshot from the TitanTV program guide.
mre29 1588 Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 I'd check it out, but I'll be busy with other stuff tonight and both of my TiVo's tuners will be in use then, anyway. Maybe tomorrow night.
