AndrewPollard_ 6
Next week, NBC's morning news program "Today" will celebrate 60 years on air, since its premiere on January 14, 1952. For its anniversary celebration on Friday, former main anchors (including Meredith Vieira, Katie Couric, Bryant Gumbel, Tom Brokaw, Barbara Walters, Jane Pauley, Hugh Downs, Deborah Norville and Jim Hartz) will return to the news program to help celebrate this really major milestone. And during the week, current anchors Matt Laurer and Ann Curry, weather anchor Al Roker, news anchor Natalie Morales, 9am co-host Savannah Guthrie, and fourth hour co-hosts Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb will take a look back at the show's long-lived past. This week will surely go down in the history of "Today" and the history of American television. MorningNews 1448
The Today show is such a mess these days. Once Brokaw and Pauley departed, the show became what it is today. Daybreak 288
Even though the Today show is number one, it isn't as good as it use to be ever since Meredith left. It is kind of bland and NBC doesn't want to lose the number 1 spot so they think Ryan Seacrest will keep the ratings up??? They should just give it to Lester and give Peter Alexander the weekend show. GMA may be number one someday if Today does that because Matt seems like he wants to do something else and sleep in. Can't wait to see the 60th anniversary show though. It's all about money and if Ryan can bring in a younger demo to watch him on the Today show, then the advertisers will be more pleased, not to mention that NBC would rake in more money.
