10Viewer 338 Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Did anybody just catch the "NBC News Update" crawl that just happened at 8:19ET? Thought it was interesting. I've never seen NBC do that before. It was to announce the death of Whitney Houston.
rah6448 21 Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Wasn't able to notice, but I was able to find out about the passing of Whitney Houston via Facebook, and the NBC 4 LA app.
10Viewer 338 Posted February 12, 2012 Author Posted February 12, 2012 I had the TV on but wasn't watching it. I heard the "NBC" chimes and ran over and saw a crawl coming across the bottom of the screen. First time I've seen NBC do that. Makes sense instead of breaking into programming.
Bucc 4 Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 They've done it a few times before. It's nothing new.
trev57 46 Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 The first time I saw them do it was the night President Obama announced the death of Bin Laden.
10Viewer 338 Posted February 12, 2012 Author Posted February 12, 2012 Yeah, I think I do remember them using the crawl when Bin Laden died.
15connects 4 Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 ABC Did it when Kim Jong Il died...they kinda faded the show's volume, and played the special report music
