Local Emmy nominations!

It's that time again, when regional Emmy chapters from all over the country are about to pass out awards for local excellence. Let's start with the Northwest Emmys, where Alaska has its best showing in the past year with ELEVEN nominations!!! Here's the breakdown:

 

KTUU--7 nominations

KUAC/AlaskaOne--3 nominations, all for "The 49th Star" documentary

Iditarod Trail Productions--1

 

Of course, they're all gonna lose to the Seattle/Portland stations anyway.

 

There are 19 other chapters, including those for New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. We'll be keeping watch on who's up for local equivalents of TV's biggest prize.

UPDATE: KUAC kicks butt at the Northwest Emmys!!!!

 

At the 44th Annual Northwest Emmy Awards in Seattle on Saturday, KUAC/AlaskaOne won all three of the nominations they were up for for their "49th Star" documentary, including Documentary (Cultural/Historical).

 

Meanwhile...of the STAGGERING seven nods they got, KTUU walked out of the ceremony with only two: General Assignment Report (No Time Limit) for "Sarah and Goliath" and Editor (News) for Scott Jensen. As for News Special, it went to Iditarod Trail Productions for "Iditarod 34: Mother Nature's Turn To Dance".

 

To recap: Out of the total eleven nominations for Alaska, we picked up six which is our strongest showing ever. As for KUAC, they are proof that they are Emmy material...at least in Fairbanks; KTVF won't even come close.
