Viper550 291
..its newspapers to Berkshire Hathaway. Apparently it wants out of newspapers so it can focus more on TV Maybe with the profits from this, MG could finally give their stations a budget do a better job with its stations. Ntropolis 596
I wonder if they'll try to buy a station in Richmond since they won't have the Times-Dispatch... Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/11897-media-general-has-sold/#findComment-73000 Share on other sites
tw-804 192
I wonder if they'll try to buy a station in Richmond since they won't have the Times-Dispatch... Maybe unlikely, but that's just me. They once owned WTVR after MG acquired Park Communications. TheOneManHerd 553
The Tampa Tribune is not included in the deal, interestingly enough. But they say that they're looking to sell it to another buyer. Perhaps they're looking to sell the Trib and WFLA as a package deal, seeing they're so heavily intertwined. Tribune is still undergoing reorganization through bankruptcy at the moment, so that's not likely to happen (especially should Tribune decide to sell off some of its own media assets). EDIT: Misread the post. Was too tired at the time. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/11897-media-general-has-sold/#findComment-73005 Share on other sites

Are you sure you're not thinking of Tribune Broadcasting? The Tampa Tribune is owned by Media General. tyrannical bastard 3955
I wonder if they'll try to buy a station in Richmond since they won't have the Times-Dispatch... If Raycom was willing to part with WWBT, they could trade it for WKRG, giving Raycom the final piece of the puzzle for owning a station in every market in Alabama. They did this once before when they were forced to divest WTVR....swapping with WBRC who was owned by Local TV LLC at the time.
