New Graphic Element for CBS 2

Has anyone else noticed the tweaks to Channel 2's over-the-shoulder graphics? I ask because they're not drastically different, but there's some motion now and more goin on/color to the right. I likey. Well, everything except maybe the floating CBS eye, not sure how I feel 'bout that. But it'd be nice if this translates into a refreshing of their lower-thirds as well.

Here's a quick video example:

Just press play on the one that already pops up. Unfortunately, you'll have to sit through an ad. Boooo

They talked about the new over-the-shoulder graphics in today's installment of Dan's Daily Briefing on cbs2chicago.com. It was also divulged that other new graphic elements are on the way. So maybe I'll get my wish about those lower-thirds. A new bug wouldn't hurt either.

You can watch it here...

It looks like those new lower thirds have materialized. While I only caught the end of the 10pm newscast on Friday, these new L3s seem to look like the old ones, but they now animate in and out and have subtle blue rectangles moving in the background.

I kept an eye-out for those lower-thirds and if that's what passes for new graphics at Channel 2... >:D

Don't get me wrong, for the most part I think Channel 2's graphics are really good, and I like their refreshed over-the-shoulders, but these lower-thirds are disgusting, with or without the new animation.

Why can't they take a page from KCBS, they've got some pretty sharp ones now (their entire package is good). Or WCBS, whose new lower-thirds use a very similar font to WBBM now, if not exactly the same one, but look much better.
