gameshowguy2000 1
I'm sure you've heard the news...but the show has closed down the Miami-based studios where the show has broadcast at WPBT since day one, and this comes on the heels of CNBC buying the rights to the show, which makes absolutely no sense as it is a public television program. To make matters worse, Tom Hudson (Paul Kangas' successor, and a good one at that; I gave him some time when the new look and new music debuted) is gone; CNBC's Tyler Matheson is Susie's new co-host (so to speak, she's back at her roots). What do you guys think? I read that the show was doing this to quote, "survive". Is it going to survive at this rate? Action Newsroom 1281
I Think that NBR will survive less because of its popularity and long-running staying power and more because of the strength of its new owner CNBC. Don't get me wrong, I like the new NBR (kinda looks the same to me), mainly because I watched it for years (a few years before Paul Kangas left) and remained loyal to it. Also because I love Susie Gherib (she always has me sold every time she begins to speak). When NBR changed its look as Kangas retired, I like where it was going (3D set, theme, graphics, ect.) and warmed up to new co-host Tom Hudson, thinking he would be a-no-the worthy successor to Paul. Even throughout the ownership changes and another (ugh) new look, I stayed with the show, basically because it still looked the same. I admit, when CNBC bought the show, I was annoyed and thought that it shouldn't have been bought by unknown foreign company in the first place; it was doing fine at its presenting public station. So I hate these constant behind-the-scenes changes NBR has, but I love the show itself, and will stay regardless. gameshowguy2000 1
Yeah, some people were complaining about the graphics moving too fast, and not putting much emphasis on individual stocks (Market Focus was no Stocks in the News or Wall Street Wrap-Up, but it was pretty darn close). When Tom, the new look, new logo, new graphics, new set, and new music debuted, many thought the changes weren't that good to start with (some complained that the music sounded like "elevator music"); but eventually I gave it some time and wanted to see how good Tom was compared to Paul. To me, he was just as good, even if he didn't have a signature signoff (he said if he used Paul's signoff he'd have to pay royalties; come on, it's not trademarked, why pay royalties?).
