cltnative 1
I am a native of Charlotte and I have to say that WBTV's overall production quality has always been a cut above any of the other stations. From lighting and video quality to set design to graphics to talent to segment transitions, etc. Even the weather graphics are far superior -- the quality of their maps and graphics is amazing. I'm a huge fan! When Belo first bought WCNC, they came in and built new sets and were operating at a level that I thought could compete with WBTV on production quality, but that didn't last. WCNC is doing better now that they've re-branded but overall production quality does not compare to WBTV. WBTV also holds itself to a higher standard journalistically. They don't follow every ambulance call. They go after other stories of interest and their reporters seem like they actually care about the community and the stories they cover. Kudos to WBTV! Keep it up! Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/12539-wbtv-production-is-so-professional/ Share on other sites

AaronQ 282
I agree what you and mark said, and I hope that WJZY will have a good news operation when the deal with Fox is gone through. Guest NewsHound
I will say their graphics are FAR superior to any other Raycom station I know of. I tend to agree. I also guess they don't necessarily have to conform to the new "standard" Raycom look since they are a Raycom flagship. swillh2k2 203
They aren't mistake free (couple of mistakes made in the 6pm newscast today) and at times presentation can be a little rushed. The graphics and set are decent, nothing eye-popping, very subdued, but as far as the product, they definitely have the best in town. As far as anchors/reporters being connected to the community via social media, events, activities, etc. it's not even close. Compared to WCNC, which seems to be striking out an identity, and WSOC's over the top coverage, WBTV ddefinitely strikes a fine balance. c.alexbrown 8
I will have to agree. WBTV is most definitely the most professional in the Charlotte News Market. They have it all. If WCNC would get their act together, go HD in at least the studio, get some more seasoned reporters, who care about a field of general interest, I think they'd have a winning newscast; They do have a good set. Their news is #1 in the ratings as of late and their work is of legend and imfamy all at the same time!!! bhratbrat 437
I would love to see WBTV use NG2 of Enforcer for their opening of their newscasts. And that my friend would be a mistake. Too many stations in my honest opinion use NG2 of Enforcer.
