nynewslover 280 Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 No newsroom tonight! Tamsen started infront of the screens where they do the 4 am newscast. Not even a green screen. Hopefully this is a permenat change and is a sign of things to come
IceManNYR 240 Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 Larry Mendte and Sukanya Krishnan anchored special coverage of the Boston Memorial Service today. Also on Monday they had Larry Mendte and Kaity Tong anchoring the breaking news coverage. Tamsen was not on till the 10pm newscast. Makes me wonder if Larry is eventually going to anchor or co-achor any of the newscasts? It appears the 11 stories in 10 minuets format for the a block is gone. The a block tonight went 15 minuets.
Chopper4 36 Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Again, last night, no 11 stories in ten minutes. 11 used to be the weather, and the weather was not done before the commercial break. It came after. The show started in the studio again, not the newsroom. Hopefully, we will never see that newsroom again.
NYNews 54 Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Larry and Tamsen anchoring special coverage. Although he's not my choice to be co-anchor, it seems that there's a very high probability that Larry gets the position if they decide to switch to a two anchor format.

Mendte is not my choice to be a co-anchor either. Hopefully they bring in someone else if they return to a two-anchor format.
nynewslover 280 Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 I guess they got rid of the newsroom cause they're in the studio again.. I just wish they'd have the anchor sit at the desk (Mario Diaz is in for Kaity tonight)

After the intro animation they went to a camera shot of a video screen on the front of the news desk then panned up to show the news desk. For me the move from the screen to the desk was very awkward.

That said, he spent his entire career there. May he find work elsewhere.
