Market146 2 Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Do you think that our model of local TV stations will have a place in the least near future, perhaps even if it's cable only? Is it possible to "transmit" a signal over the internet? These are just questions.
channel2 982 Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 I think that as the market moves away from linear TV, the major networks will switch to a model that will lead them to part ways with local stations, leaving them to focus solely on their news departments (if they have any; the typical CW affiliate will likely just completely fade away). I also don't think that what's left of first-run syndication (mostly talk and court shows) is going to be around someday either, especially not the trashy daytime TV that is aimed mostly at a captive audience of unemployed people without cable. If linear TV does stick around, you'll probably be able to swap your antenna for a set-top box seamlessly.
Market146 2 Posted April 12, 2013 Author Posted April 12, 2013 Ah. I don't know about anybody else but I think I'm really going to miss linear TV. There's just something so special and magical about TV being linear. Thank goodness for platforms such as Livestream.
