I just saw a 5 second promo on KTVT and it reads "The Most Trusted Name in Weather is coming to CBS-11". Do anybody

know who's joining the CBS 11 Weather Team?

Okay, i just got done looking up the title of "The Most Trusted Name in Weather" and the first hit: Accuweather & HP. So I think some kind of partnership between Accuweather & KTVT is what's going on.

Isn't Accu-weather usually associated with ABC O&Os? In any case let's hope not for KTVT's case, Accu-weather is as bad as it gets IMO.

Yeah, a lot of the ABC O&Os and several Sinclair ABC affiliates are working with Accu-weather. Even DirecTV's weather on its interactive channel comes from Accu-weather

Accu-weather sucks.

Same as WCBS... Have TWC logo in the weather graphic. I assume they will be adding some logos to their set, like WCBS too.

Do they just use the Weather Channel name or what?

Yeah, I don't get it. I just watched a WCBS weather report, and it looks like they just plaster the The Weather Channel logo everywhere. What does this gain the local station, besides more confusing branding? For that matter, what does this gain The Weather Channel?

I could see a small market, low budget station offering to replace their weather people with The Weather Channel customized local reports, a la AccuWeather, but for someone like WCBS, this seems like a lose-lose proposition to me.

So basically it's just TWC's logo slapped all over everything with nothing else to it?

Based on what I saw on their website, yes. Take a look:

The weather forecast is the first video listed. Looks like they have the TWC logo in the background on set, then also on the actual forecast graphics screens. That's it.

I always hear someone who respresents themselves as being from Accuweather do KDFW's Fox 4cast on KLIF (one of the local DFW area talk radio stations) at the :30 and top-of-the-hour newsbreaks, when Evan, Dan, Ron, or Maria couldn't do it.

If my assumtion is true that Accuweather does indeed have an ongoing partnership of some kind with KDFW, (while I don't know for sure) I seriously doubt Accuweather would back out and go with KTVT. Unless of course KTVT would agree to make it $$$ worth Accuweather's while.
