Ahhh, just found out it's only "resurfacing studio floors"...

Sh*theads at KUSA said that they were getting a new set last year (their current one is from 2004), but it only turned out that it was a floor resurfacing. :bang:

Not as bad as WTXF over a decade ago. They shoved a desk into their tiny newsroom area and announced they were getting a brand new studio. Two days later, same studio, different lighting, and they replaced the daytime duratrans used for Good Day with an ugly, generic blue "FOX" duratrans. Probably just needed what KYW was/is getting - reworking the studio floors.

KYW uses Cambotic pedestals for news which are actually rather easy on the floors. They only leave behind some rubber tire marks, which you could always see in wide shots as the big circles in the floor. A real pain to buff out but they weren't damaging the floor, which had some deep scratches from other things.

Now, the older Vinten pedestals used at 5th & Market, and now living with "Talk Philly" in Studio B, are heavy as hell and those things would actually carve divots into the floor. The wheels would spin a little before getting traction. Add that up over a few years....

I stand corrected. I'm used to the Vinten/Radamec pedestals (SP-2000/X-Y Model) that could do quite some damage. And if they "ran away" from you when put into Local mode...they could become very dangerous heavy robots (hence the giant STOP buttons)
