NEOMatrix 1302
What are your thoughts on the sets at Cleveland's news stations WKYC- updated 2012, here is a link: http://archive.wkyc.com/news/photo-gallery.aspx?storyid=254367 WEWS- updated 2012, link: https://www.mediabistro.com/tvspy/clevelands-wews-debuts-new-set_b60228 WJW- updated 2007, link: http://m.flickr.com/#/photos/mikebrown3506/3457551937/ (date is 2009, but the set looks the same even to this day. ns8401 945
WKYC is kinda ugly, especially the strange grey color for the desk with that vibrant yellow orange in the background. Yuck. WEWS has a very nice set, it was done by Broadcast Design International, they make some nice stuff, I wish WXYZ had a set like this or their old FX group set, their new FX one is awful and way outclassed by this sister stations set. WJW has a rather empty, dated and plain set. I'm surprised it's lasted this long. WOIO - see that thread for my thoughts Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/13412-cleveland-news-sets/#findComment-100998 Share on other sites
sanewsguy 511
Re: WKYC -- Is that really their current set? I looked at those pictures and almost thought it was a set they used in the late 90's. I would've thought that for sure if it were not for Russ Mitchell and Kris Pickel in the photo. Anyway it's ugly and looks 15 years past its time. NEOMatrix 1302
WOIO, IMO, almost has a CBS O&O look to its set. However, I think it has a FX look with a hint of Devlin. I guess it's alright. I never thought that it was BDI's best work. They did this after they refreshed WPTV, and that too wasn't very impressive for BDI. Re: WKYC -- Is that really their current set? WXmanTim 88
About the only thing new about wkyc's studio is the desk. Everything else is remnants of their Devlin set from the early 2000s. The tell tale is the "information center" light box hanging above. I wish Devlin archived images of their old projects.
