Daybreak 288
It looks like Media General is spending money for sets because WSPA is broadcasting off a virtual set that looks like the set they had before. More to come soon. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/13451-wspa-getting-a-new-set/ Share on other sites

tyrannical bastard 3953
It's hard to tell from the split screen...if it was a virtual set, the image on the left would either be blue or green depending on what kind of chroma key it is (since it looks like some kind of webcam that is showing what's above the set) The shots do seem very limited though. Usually most temporary sets use the main desk and main backdrops. In WKRG's case, it's noticeablely different on their temp set since the "5" duratrans appears to be much bigger, and the side duratrans panels are closer to the center than before. There's less depth to it since the space is likely much smaller, which is probably why the "5" appears to be bigger than before. tyrannical bastard 3953
WSPA has posted video and a daily slideshow of the dismantling of their old set on their website and facebook page. http://www.wspa.com/story/25192960/the-new-look-of-local-news Update 4/15 - new pictures have been posted to the site, and it's definitely starting to take on a WCMH-style look, even with the desk. A3N 1002
http://www.wfla.com/...own-and-rebuild WFLA in Tampa is starting to take shape, and so far, the desks are identical, and this could be the direction Spartanburg is heading.... More than likely they're getting a cheap scaled down version of WFLA, and WFLA's new set looks pretty cheap to say the least. sanewsguy 511
https://twitter.com/WCBD At long last, WCBD has revealed their new set, and it looks like what will appear in Spartanburg (and Tampa too!) I'm not a big fan of FX cookie-cutter sets, but I wish WKRG got that instead of what they ended up getting. That looks like a set from 2014, WKRG's does not. tyrannical bastard 3953
Being the first day of sweeps, WSPA looks to have launched their new look along with their new set. Based on what I've seen so far, it's a hybrid of the WNCN/WJAR look with the use of Museo Sans instead of the Gotham-esque font that they use in most cases. Also like WNCN did when they launched last year, many of their supers and graphics are using Arial right now in the main title portion, with a mix of Museo Sans and Gotham on the secondary line. This has to be a temporary thing and seeing how the same thing plagued WNCN, it's hopefully a temporary glitch. They changed up the cuts of Canvas, and switched BACK to Greg O'Neill for voiceovers. The logo has basically remained the same (with the 7 and CBS eye), but is beveled 3D in the intros and moves the "On Your Side" from below the logo to a stacked left-justified layout alongside the logo. I like it. It has some inconsistencies to it, but less glaring ones that WKRG still has well over a week after it's launch. WFLA looks to be using their "virtual set" for most of their shows. I'll have to check out WCBD at 11 to see how they pulled their look off (since they don't have use livestream for their shows). GoldenShine9 1513
WSPA is one of MG's crown jewels though? Makes sense they would get it first. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/13451-wspa-getting-a-new-set/#findComment-103745 Share on other sites
