New sub-nets: 'Escape', 'Grit'

Escape: aimed at women, series and movies (may be another damsel-in-distress channel but they're not specific)

Grit: (not a video version of the old newspaper) aimed at men, series and movies with action/westerns/war theme

These will launch this summer on subchannels of Univision stations, which will get the nets 30% U.S. coverage. For the rest, could there be a big demand, or will they be like PBJ and Heartland--some lucky to see them, others not so much?

Is Univision in the race to see how many different subchannel networks they can fit on their spectrum? Given they have two signals in many markets, it still won't matter in Phoenix where they will most likely stick them on the inferior Class A Unimas signal.

However, RabbitEars doesn't have Phoenix listed as a market for these networks. If they're still looking, maybe Meredith can finally put something that can attract viewers to 5.2. The "Grit" westerns network looks like it would be a hit with the many retirees/grey-haired CBS viewers here

That's going to be a very crowded field. A couple of months ago, Bounce announce that it will move its subchannels to the Univision stations in 2015. So in markets where they already have Bounce & GetTV, likely they might use the Univision's main channel to possibly add these two networks in, or move Bounce and Get to Uni, and place the two new channels to the UniMas side, or vice versa.

I'm shocked that they are still talking about making new subchannels, while Mr. "Competition, Competition, Competition", I mean Tom Wheeler wants to convince stations to sell the spectrum for those auctions next year, and also convince stations who don't want to participate, to share the frequency with another channel. How can you do that without degrading the PQ in those channels? It would dumb to have 2 480i subs while degrading the quality of 2 HD channels in the same frequency.
