MikePulse 318 Posted June 5, 2007 Share Posted June 5, 2007 It's because all the other Citytv stations canceled their CityNews (excusing the flagship Toronto one) in light of the CTV takeover of Chum Limited. Basically, it's a replacement for the others, although I can't speak for Vancouver... MikePulse 318 Posted June 6, 2007 Share Posted June 6, 2007 Again, CTVglobemedia proposed a $1.7 billion (in Canadian Dollar, mind you) bid to buy CHUM Limited, which also owns the Citytv system. Ahead of time, I guess the chain thought it was a good idea to cancel their local CityNews, although they said local CityNews would be maintained separately.
