NBC San Diego to leave downtown San Diego

This is big news, especially that NBC San Diego (formerly KNSD-TV, KCST-TV) made a big splash when they left their former Kearny Mesa studios and moved to downtown San Diego to be "in the middle of the action" ground-level like NBC-TV in New York City with a LED news ticker facing Broadway Street.

I believe this was mentioned a year ago.

Its still 2.5 years away, I can't wait though that studio space they have is a small market level. I also don't think NBCU will build up KNSD's news operation that much though. Wasn't SD one of the most cut news ops of the O&Os back when NBCU was in near death? I'm surprised of the 50K sq ft, thats double the size of WVIT in CT, also a sister market in size.

"Almost every other station, English and Spanish, has studios in the Kearny Mesa area, and I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up back there."

"Agreed. I can see them moving back to Kearny Mesa"

"They still park their big satellite trucks in a lot right next to its old location (Now Kearny Mesa Toyota) directly across from Mercedes Benz of SD off Engineer Road. I'm shooting somewhere near that area close by. "

"My gut tells me its Kearny Mesa"

Sounds like it was an obvious choice but congrats still on guessing right.
