mvcg66b3r 100
From unclehonkey on the AVS Forum: Jonesboro to get CBS on 8/1. Same folks who own the FOX LP station are starting the CBS on channel 42 (another LP). Unlike FOX, the CBS will have its tower in downtown Jonesboro http://www.avsforum.com/forum/45-local-hdtv-info-reception/1140362-jonesboro-ar-hdtv.html#post36109362 Coverage Map: http://www.rabbitears.info/contour.php?appid=2001194&map=Y IMO they should put FOX on 42.2 and CBS on 39.2 to cover more of the market. Mrtraveler01 738
That's a shame. I don't think Jonesboro is better off having their CBS and Fox affiliations basically coming from Meridian, MS. Even though the towers are based in Jonesboro, the ownership is based in Meridian and I would imagine the control room for these stations is based in Meridian as well. Unless they're planning on local content for these stations, I think they were better off being served by the Memphis stations. And the fact that neither of these stations have a website isn't exactly a vote of confidence either. And the fact that neither of these stations have a website isn't exactly a vote of confidence either. Even worse is that the stations in Meridian have very little local presence themselves, being far behind a very dominant WTOK. While Jonesboro viewers will finally have a full compliment of affiliates, it should have little effect on KAIT. They were smart to jump on the NBC affiliation and keep WMC's presence in their market by simulcasting their newscasts. EDIT: There's no mention of them picking up CBS, at least according to this article from June 7th http://talkbusiness.net/2015/06/jonesboro-gets-new-fox-tv-affiliate/ EDIT: A CONFIRMATION of CBS! http://www.broadcastingcable.com/news/local-tv/cbs-station-coming-jonesboro-ark/142927 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/14532-new-cbs-station-for-jonesboro/#findComment-131783 Share on other sites
