Viper550 291
CBC Sports, after having progressively lost their remaining professional sports rights (besides the NHL, but that's more of a free time-brokerage than them actually producing it), is now doubling down on marketing themselves as Canada's home of the Olympics, and Olympic sports. Today, they re-branded their blanket title for weekend afternoon sports (which hadn't had much of a brand besides "CBC Sports Weekend") as "Road to the Olympic Games", with new graphics and logos to boot. The new intros look pretty cool, shedding CBC's old black/blue sports look for a white, red, and gold scheme. The overall CBC graphics package (a.k.a. the old Hockey Night in Canada graphics before it got Sportsnet-ified) has been tweaked with gold accents replacing the blue and what appears to be a thin Gotham in place of DIN. Both the font, and some of the new background elements, seem to be an evolution of the Pan-Am Games graphics. It looks good but I'm quite shocked they actually sort of kept the old graphics (no one in Canada seems to be going down the flatter route everyone in the U.S. has been trying to do. TSN still uses the red glossy BottomLine for crying out loud). Plus, so much italic text. I'm also quite shocked they didn't do the L3's in italic text too.
