All-news radio is dead in the Silicon Valley...

In a few weeks time, 1590 KLIV / San Jose will flip to classic country (80s and 90s). Never made a single profit in the 30 years it existed as an all-news station with 2015 being the worst year ever and yet, it remained as an all-news station for all that time.

Some of their unique programming will remain as well as continuing to be the home for the San Jose Earthquakes and San Jose State University.

The entire news department is losing their jobs. So long to Silicon Valley News on 1590 KLIV.

1590 KLIV San Jose. In the next 30 minutes, we'll cover the world, the nation and Silicon Valley...

Well, I have to give them credit where it's due:

This station, despite no profits made throughout its 30-year history, stayed on the air for that long under the all-news format, seemingly for loyalty to/for its listeners. Working so hard to keep the mantle up-and-running and not giving up until the true end. Amazing.

That's dedication and I downright respect them for it.

KLIV was one of not profitable stations in the Bay Area. Now, the only source for all-news in Bay Area and Silicon Valley will be KCBS 740.

Which, btw, is the most-listened radio station in the entire Bay Area. #1 over NPR station KQED-FM and over KNBR 680 Sports. The top music station is in 4th place.

KCBS 740 with a Simulcast on 106.9 FM. here in Sacramento, we still have 6 stations that carry News With KFBK 93.1/AM 1530 being the most listened station because it used to be part of KCRA 3 News for Traffic and weather reports in the morning as well as KTKZ AM 1380 when it used KXTV In the mornings. NPR is heard on KXJZ 90.9. sometimes if you have a very strong Antenna it can pick up KQED 89.3 and another on 89.5 just towards folsom. it used to be 88.9 but its a classical station.
