Samantha 2895
WBND has confirmed that WSJV's news operation is in its final week after it was announced to station staff. Beginning next Monday, the news will be provided by WSBT. FTVLive had been reporting since June that Sinclair was acquiring the station; though no filings had been made to change the licensee, Quincy personnel were leaving for other stations. The WBND confirmation marks the first time an outlet other than FTVLive has reported on the situation between WSBT and WSJV. The South Bend Tribune expands on this confirmation, noting that Fox is moving to WSBT 22.2 under the banner "Fox Michiana" and that Heroes and Icons will replace all of WSJV's programming on August 1. Only two staff will remain with WSJV, while some of its staff will move to other Quincy stations and others have been hired to run a "second news operation" for Sinclair in Michiana. The SBT2 subchannel will essentially cease to exist in its current form, bumping the rest of the South Bend Cubs season due to "technical limitations". The 10pm news that WSBT has provided on SBT2 will expand to one hour when Fox moves there. A weather subchannel is being deleted, presumably so the subchannel is in HD. broadcastfan9751 140
This probably means that WSJV itself will be sold to Howard Stirk Holdings, since HSH airs Heroes & Icons on most of its stations.
