TexasTVNews 1378 Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 A very sad and difficult time over the passing of Larry Stogner. Larry was always a fighter, a dedicated journalist and a true well respected legend in Raleigh-Durham broadcasting, and the NC Triangle. It is one reason why viewers in the NC Triangle turned on the news every night at Six O'Clock to watch Larry to find out what was happening at home in the Heart of Carolina, the entire country, and around the world. Larry Stogner was in North Carolina institution who deliver the news in Raleigh-Durham for nearly 40 years, He was a Vietnam veteran in the U.S. Air Force who served his country proud and strong. Today, we were honored to have Larry into our homes to deliver us the very best newscasts for so many years in The Heart of Carolina, and we were not just honored to watch Larry... it was a privileged. TVNT would like to take this time to offer our prayers and condolences to The Stogner Family, the Larry's extended family at ABC 11 Eyewitness News (WTVD) on this very emotional and difficult time. NewsMaster 226 Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 Wow. This is a tough one. Larry was a great anchor and an even better person. A legend gone too soon. You will be missed, Larry. RIP.
TriangleTriadMediaNews 267 Posted October 4, 2016 Author Posted October 4, 2016 I consider him in a super-elite class of local journalists, right alongside folks like Hal Fishman, Stan Chambers, Jim Vance, Gordon Peterson, et al. We will never see the likes of these fine people ever again, it's a shame.

We will never see the likes of these fine people ever again, it's a shame. Shame indeed. I guess the top guy Raleigh has now is David Crabtree, having been on at WRAL since 1994.
TexasTVNews 1378 Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 You guys left out one more legendary name in Raleigh-Durham broadcasting history... WRAL's Charlie Gaddy.
WAVY 10 Fan 233 Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 Saddened to read about Larry Stogner's passing. Don't live in that area of North Carolina; but he was definitely an all-time great in local TV news not just in the Triangle but the state as a whole.
TheRolyPoly 2592 Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 You guys left out one more legendary name in Raleigh-Durham broadcasting history... WRAL's Charlie Gaddy. Oh yes! And possibly one more... Bob DeBardelaben, even though he died in 2014.
CircleSeven 1960 Posted October 25, 2016 Posted October 25, 2016 Today (10/25) would've been Larry's 70th Birthday. May he rest in peace.
