  1. You may want to place WTVF's Nashville Sky 5 on the injured reserve list. It got a few oweee's during that last round of tornadoes.
  2. SF video stringer getting paid by SFPD in bogus search warrants case... https://ktla.com/news/san-francisco-agrees-to-pay-369k-to-journalist-for-police-raids/
  3. When did the WABC evening anchors quit taking 2-3 hour dinners? Last night? (pssst...don't tell those new kids over at Scripps, they might only get 1/2-1hr lunch)
  4. Like we used to say in Lone Grove, Ok... "Just take it behind the barn and shoot it...and hurry back inside to watch the end of Dallas on tv." Not really much in the way of "closure" for us in that deal. That makes me sad just to see it die like that.
  5. The Philams in my neighborhood are all sharing ID's on the VPN's so they can watch "TV Patrol" for free... Lumpia and TV Patrol just seem to go together around here.
  6. `Tis the time for Holiday and Christmas cheer here at KBEX-TV This year we took a survey of TVNT members and asked "what should KBEX broadcast on Christmas day?" Well this year it won't just be another Yule Log (tm)...or a piece of flaming poop. This year KBEX-TV Presents... Yule Boris- 2019 Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from all of us at KBEX-TV Surfridge/Socal And from the KBEX-Interns...
  7. Plans, Permits etc... It's NYC for God sake. Yup I would actually say 5-6 years given the process and delays that will be involved. Make NO mistake, the planning has already begun. Of course ABC could take a quicker route...
  8. I would expect all kinds of strange "musical chairs" at all the ABC production/ news studios in the NYC area. The reason is the upcoming move at Columbus square and all the tech craziness that will be part of it. ABC and WABC will need to improvise over the course of the move. IE: EWN being able to work out of Times Square if needed for an hour, week or month. There will need to be some redundancy practiced "just in case"... You plan for the worst, and hope for the best.
  9. Anatomy of a death spiral, of the once proud CNN... Just plain sad to see the network destroyed. https://www.nationalreview.com/magazine/2019/12/31/cnn-is-not-a-news-network/?amp
  10. I agree that's a whole lot of eggs in one basket, but the folks funding this operation must be aware of that possibility. Do you think CNN even considers them a remote threat? Heck No! I don't have a clue who is really behind the whole deal, but the funding seems to be there for now. There must be some timetable for the growth, and a aggressive business plan. This could easily migrate via OTA into a solid diginet once it get a bit more polished. Viewers sure don't seem to care about visual and audio quality much anymore as you of all people know (winky guy emoji). But does anyone (here) remember that first year of CNN? The first year of CNN they would take anything...and air everything, no matter how bad it was, or where it was produced. A bunch of real crappy TV from all over the USA flowed into Atlanta. Taped packages arrived by Greyhound bus ,mail, Federal Express or Airborne Express. A bunch of small time reporters also got some huge breaks when CNN aired those packages from those small markets. CNN also aired some real gems during that time, including portions of one reporters resume tape by mistake one late evening. Train up these kids and their network, and In a few years maybe Sinclair or Byron will buy them. I'm paying very close attention to them.
  11. The entire channel is "training". The goal right now should be perfecting the format, and newsgathering processes. It's also about the growth. Notice the new digs? Who is paying for that? My guess is that once this gets to a certain size with OTA footholds, then prospective buyers and investors might follow. They don't need to be great yet...they just need to get a little better and better each day. They might not have a lot of viewers yet...but the viewers they DO have, are paying attention very closely. If I was CNN, I would be watching my rear view mirror.
  12. Well since it's the south"... they probably just find a willing cousin.
  13. You shouldn't have to take the station off the air (or get knocked off the air) with a little proper planning. Don't Try This At Home or Without proper Adult Supervision. Pretty simple actually... Your video, audio and data links all (presumably) have active back-up paths and circuits, that are used for maintenance or emergencies.. They are extra channels or spare "pipelines". On the big day, all you do is switch to the back-up circuits while you shut down the "main feeds" and establish and test the new signals. Once you are happy with the new signals...you just switch back from the back-up line to the main lines. ...and since you did a secret "test of the test" a few hours or days before...you are certain all will be fine once it's all "official". Practice Safe Engineering for a Green Planet.
  14. Yup... They ALL fall for that trick in the first year... "Yule Log, My Butt!"
  15. No, You want to work out all the little bugs that will occur live on the air anyway. Best to have it perfected before sweeps begin....because there WILL be problems.
  16. I will up that $100, and say that Nexstar and Hollywood are about to hit 'head -on" in the middle of Sunset Boulevard... "Oh The Humanity!"
  17. Who would be acceptable to be seen "hanging out" with? Milo probably takes 500 selfies a day, with all types of people. Would you approve if it was Rachael Maddow? Most tv types who spend all day in the field are gonna have photos and selfies from all kinds of newsworthy folks. I'm gonna side with Ellen on this one. https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/celebrities/2019/10/08/ellen-degeneres-george-bush-times-shes-addressed-critics/3906283002/ ...and just "who" determines credibility of a news organization? Some group of pointy bearded types? Or does the viewer decide?
  18. Nope! This show is bleeding out fast... Remember that uncle Walter used to play to 29 million viewers each evening. That was in 1976, and the population of the USA was only 200 million people. Nora barely gets 5 million viewers per show. https://nypost.com/2019/10/20/cbs-anchor-norah-odonnells-ratings-in-freefall/
  19. She is no longer considered damaged goods with that blackface thing...that was like 2 years ago. The Governor of Virginia has at least 2 pics in blackface...and the PM of Canada was also exposed with pics.. Both men are still in office. Kelly had NO pics. It was a bunch of 'cancel culture' fake outrage, that most sane people now see right through. I think Kelly is gonna bounce back...Big time. There are a whole bunch of suburban tv news watching mommy's just looking for a new moderate/conservative idol to follow. Her return is being carefully plotted right now, and will be sprung in time for the elex fun. What could be a better way to score points with conservatives then to say... "NBC Screwed Me Too".
  20. Here at the KBEX-TV Museum of News History ..we have an active display of vintage "Lawn Darts". Wayyyyyyy more fun! But one day the adults ruined it... I miss lawn darts.
  21. An undercover video released by Project Veritas on Monday shows a CNN staffer saying network president Jeff Zucker has a “personal vendetta” against President Donald Trump. PART 1: CNN Insider Blows Whistle, Secretly Records Staff, Execs and Network President Jeff Zucker’s "Anti-Trump Crusade" and "Personal Vendetta" Against POTUS. #ExposeCNN Full video uploading now…sign up now to get each new tape first: https://t.co/kDe3HDdX2r pic.twitter.com/KKfaK6hvgW — James O'Keefe (@JamesOKeefeIII) October 14, 2019
  22. Yeah! And let's bring back those casting couches... But this time put those neato plastic covers on them like at my Grandmas house, so nobody gets V.D.
  23. Your parents only want the best for you. You can tell they care because people who stream, are the same folks that also vape, speed and use those hooka bongs . The cable tv signal is much more pure and organic, and cable consumes much less electrons for a far more reliable and better signal. Cable is green and is endorsed by Greta the climate girl. With streaming comes corruption of bits and data, hackers and viruses and all kinds of other cooties that pollute those internet streams. Plus... lots of streamers are just plain thugs. Your folks care about you...and so do all of us here at tvnt. BTW... This is what I had for a tv under my folks roof, I had to buy it myself, it got 6 local channels via a telescoping antenna. It came with an earphone. and cost me $69 dollars at Fedmart. When I decided I wanted 13 channels of "cable tv, I bought a cable splitter and tapped off my parents outlet ...thus committing a misdemeanor that could have followed me on my permanent record. We just don't want to see you fall into the wrong crowd of vaping, thuggish hoons, streaming all kinds of derelict programming.
