KNBN New Graphics

Well...either Jim Simpson has some friends in high places, or the folks in KNBN's creative services department have become the undisputed masters of knocking off looks.

The previous look didn't last long...when I last visited the area in 2014 they were using

that's been mentioned on TVNT before. Either way, a very nice update - and they're certainly getting their money's worth out of The Rock.

Maybe Meredith's WNEM might get the now-syndicated Scripps graphics.

From 2007-2010, KTVT (a CBS O&O) used a package similar to that of Media General at the time: the beginning of the open was similar, and the lower thirds were the same as Media General's.

It could be a sign that Scripps may be rolling out a new graphics package in the near future.

depends on what your definition of "near" is...

this really doesn't have anything to do with that... renderon could have simply put a clause in their scripps contract saying "we get to syndicate this after x years"...

something new is coming... but not "soon"...

It's a new look, but that NewsCenter1 logo is so thoroughly dominated by the NBC peacock it isn't even funny. Never mind the 1 protruding into the peacock.

And never mind its not called NewsCenter 21, which could've been easily called like that.

Can we talk about what a nice cut of The Rock that is? It works almost flawlessly with the open.

Agreed. I don't see why this would be a thing unless a new look was coming, unless, as Webovision said, there was a stipulation. Wasn't non-NBC O&Os getting whatever the standard look was at that time an indication a new look would be unveiling? Maybe not, but it seems like it might have been. Some stations might have just paid to be able to use the look.

Interesting idea, the potential contract stipulation.

Regarding how soon, "soon" is, the current look is nearly 5 and a half years old and debuted on the NBC affiliates on/soon after the 2012 Olympics. While obviously nothing new came during the Rio Games, it's not too farfetched to wonder if Scripps would launch a new look with the Winter Games coming up in February.
