You obviously have never worked in TV. It may look awkward to some, but it's an artistic ploy. He's talking about pool or pool cues, so why not focus on them?

No, he's talking about how MnDOT pulled 50 million dollars in funding to raise a highway, not about pool!

On WJAR-10, a newsreader was beginning a story about the Station nightclub fire when the WLNE-6 news on ABC faded up for a split second on the plasma screen.

Actually, the guy's name is Niger Innis. It was accidental on MSNBC's part.
