MidwestTV 1239 Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 Gray's WLBT in Jackson, Mississippi has started a studio renovation. From what I've been told they're completely gutting the studio and starting over. It's not expected to be done until the end of the year. https://www.facebook.com/PatrickEllisWx/posts/362222315259093
RS531 0 Posted July 21, 2021 Posted July 21, 2021 Gray's Omaha NBC affiliate (WOWT) announced similar. They bought the building next door to their current one and it's being renovated into their new studio and offices. Should be complete summer of 2022.
SavannahNews 0 Posted July 22, 2021 Posted July 22, 2021 Wow, so the Hearst station in Jackson MS. WAPT is also currently installing a new set, so the question now is who will have the better set? My money is on Hearst LOL.
NWA_TV_guy 156 Posted December 4, 2021 Posted December 4, 2021 Rehearsals are now underway on the new set. This has been a ”top secret” project for sure.
MidwestTV 1239 Posted December 8, 2021 Author Posted December 8, 2021 I'm told it'll launch Tuesday (12/14).
NWA_TV_guy 156 Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 If you look verrrrrryyyy closely, you can see the parts of the new set on the camera shots on the control room’s monitors in the background.
NWA_TV_guy 156 Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 The new set debuted just now at 4p. Last picture courtesy of Patrick Ellis’ Facebook page (Patrick Ellis WLBT):
LexTVandRadio 418 Posted December 15, 2021 Posted December 15, 2021 Not bad but lots of colors going on here.
tyrannical bastard 4018 Posted December 15, 2021 Posted December 15, 2021 No pun intended, but I've noticed a lot of "gray" in Gray's sets as of late..... I guess it's more subtle than putting their logo on the set, like WABI did.

Eh, I don't know how much larger the desk really needs to be. The big open space in the middle gives them even more flexibility for the space.
