Chicago2008 20
Good morning, I have noticed that sometimes you see regular vehicles with permits in the windshield that say, "Chicago TV news Parking Permit," what purpose does it serve? Thanks. Edited August 6, 2024 by Chicago2008 1 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/21506-chicago-tv-news-parking-permit/ Share on other sites
GodfreyGR 652
Going to take a shot on this- since many stations have taken the wraps off of their news vehicles in recent years, there needs to be some way to identify a working news vehicle in a heavily urbanized area like Chicago where parking ramps/meters are regularly enforced, and news vehicles may be in a parking sport for far longer than normally permitted depending on the story. It doesn't give them the okay to park the truck/van wherever (i.e. can't park in an ADA space or the sidewalk) but keeps them from getting ticketed or towed for not feeding the meter. Chicago2008 20
I saw a marked WGN TV can with that permit on the windshield. Now why would a marked news vehicle need one?
