The dress rehearsals of the new set all included the Fox 8 logo. It came from this photo of the new building on the FB post linked a few posts back. My guess is that logo was a prototype in case they got permission to drop the Fox branding, and they commissioned the signage before deciding to keep the “Fox 8” brand. The one branding change they did make was the replacement of the longtime “Your Weather Authority” brand in favor of “First Alert”, carrying over (a non-italicized version of) the Helvetica Condensed font and the stylized thunderbolt from the previous weather logo. This, and if you look at the tour of the building they give in the newscast, the logos on the glass panels in the production/weather/newsroom areas alternate "WVUE8" and "Gray". The same segment, I noticed "WVUE8" and "FOX8" were used almost interchangeably. Are they in tandem? It is transitionary? Not enough evidence to speculate long-term from what I watched. 1 Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/21636-wvues-new-set/page/2/#findComment-305382 Share on other sites

Probably more future-proofing than anything; if the Fox logo changes or they switch affiliations (or in the future Fox just stops operating on the traditional model), they don't have to change anything physically on the building, and when they take the WBRC baby steps it'll be easier if they decide to drop it in the future. Also like WMTV they can brand it neutrally and equally with GCSEN or whatever else Gray decides to operate out of it (note the extra space beneath the ground sign and plenty of room on the building fascia). Not necessarily. Graphics say First Alert but the weather intros (and even in some weather graphics) and in the set still say Your Weather Authority. WVUE can't decide on which brand to go 100% on.
