MidwestTV 1358 Posted March 1 Posted March 1 Longtime local news voice over Beau Weaver has apparently retired. Going from the News Music Search Archive, he's been doing voice overs since at least 1987 with WFLD. Many of his stations used him for many years. Some stations that used him seem to have already found a replacement (KDVR, WBNX, for starters).
Weeters 2173 Posted March 1 Posted March 1 He retired at the start of the year. Good Day Sacramento did a fantastic farewell interview with him: 1
The Romeo Show 5 Posted March 1 Posted March 1 He replaced Mark Peeples on Houston’s KPRC n 2007, & just within the last few months he’s been replaced by Glenn Hansen.

tyrannical bastard 4676 Posted March 3 Posted March 3 His retirement must have been one of the triggers for Nexstar to replace him with people from SpotVoice. I know Steve Kamer is still doing voiceovers for WKRG (but Jim Cutler is no longer on WFNA). Are there any other traditional voice talent still being used on Nexstar stations? 1

Among traditional voice talent still being used on Nexstar stations, look like WHO had met halfway through the graphics, possibly new SAM and SpotVoice rollout. The station recently introduced The Rock music package (due to layoffs at WCPM following the closure of the Nashville division), yet they kept the current graphics and Brian Lee voiceover.

Also I forgot also among traditional voiceover talent, KFQX is the only one that was replaced. KREX voiceover Jeff Rechner did the voice work for KFQX and hopefully will be temporary as Nexstar was in the process of switching over to SpotVoice. Maybe they met halfway as well to switch to SpotVoice.
5OnYourSideMan 88 Posted March 13 Posted March 13 With Beau Weaver out, I wonder who's going to take his place?

By the way, didn't Beau Weaver say :"Thanks for joining is for this special preview. And now our feature presentation!" on Disney VHS tapes?
