justin2kx 237
Does anyone remember "Evening Magazine" or "PM Magazine"? There's this interesting site dedicated to the former syndicated local show. The site was put up months ago (still in reconstruction) but they actually have segments there including a WGBH report on the cancellation (Note: Does WGBH still do news reports of sort?) and a WBZ retrospective on the show. By the way, anyone living in the seattle area, how is the local evening magazine holding up? Just asking. (I have relatives there) Here's the site: http://www.evening-pm.org/ What are your memories of evening/PM magazine if it ever aired in your area? Do you think it is the right time to bring it back to TV (local or even a network (cable or broadcast)) or do you think Infotainment TV (ET, Access Hollywood) still rule the roost? Your thoughts? bostonmediaguy 123
WGBH canceled their "Ten O'Clock News" in the early '90s. They do, however, have "Greater Boston," a public affairs program airing Mon-Thu at 7pm. They run a "Beat the Press" edition of the broadcast on Fridays: a look at media issues and coverage. It's likely that the cancellation of "Evening" would have been featured on the Friday night "Beat the Press" edition. Is the time right for a comeback? Perhaps a similar formatting (sharing national stories among stations with local hosts) could survive. It's more likely you would see something during daytime, though. Prime access has too many options as it is: Wheel/Jeopardy, The Insider/ET, Extra/Access.
