Bob Hite Retiring

I wish some people would just go. - not this 30 day count down to departure. What the hell,,, they have nothing else, except automation jokes, miscues, and mistakes.

Well, when you have a distinguished 30 year career at the station, you deserve this kind of fanfare. Think of this as halfway to the end of WFLA's glory days. The station will never stay afloat depending on smug-pompous Keith Cate at night and that baby factory bimbo Gayle Guyardo in the morning.

Bob Hite is a very talented man and all of those pieces from his career deserve to be shown. In fact, I learned he is a pretty good singer from looking at his report about the Dry Tortugas and the Pet Cemetery story from his days at WPVI made me grin. And how many men do you know have ever sailed to their next job?

I know that he is actually still good friends with some of his old collegues from Philly. In fact he is moving to Colorado, which is where retired WCAU anchor Steve Levy lives, Levy works for Hite's production company Kinship Productions. I wonder if Hite is keeping his boat or did he sell it?

And (you know who you are), don't go into how you never watched WFLA, I don't care!! I watched Channel 8 for half my life and my parents currently watch it.

Christ.....I just mentioned that I generally don't watch 8 so there's not as much of an emotional connection to his retirement as there might be to others. No reason to jump on me.

Haha, just kidding. No it's okay, to be honest I only watch 8 when Gayle and Bob are on. Now when I visit my parents on the West Coast I have no reason to watch 8 unless Gayle Sierens is anchoring solo, which never happens. I mainly watch WTVT when I'm there.

absolutely correct about Guyardo. But, this aint her thread.

Agreed about Cate. On his best days they could call him Douche-Snob!

However, presuming people want to see stories about anyone (Bob or any other) sitting with a bunch of monkeys, or covering some small market local interest story is a joke. To say so in the name of sweeps mean that FLA IS a small market and a small market station, instead of DMA 13. IMO, I have bigger expectations of news stations than that regardless of market.

I commented nothing about his character, or about him as a person. That is not up for discussion, as far as I am concerned. My comment only centered on FLA's stupidity at thinking people give a crap about seeing a "human-interest" story from 30 years ago, again.

Also, the technical glitches which as almost constant at FLA make their "talent" appear to be buffoons. They have gone too high of a level of automation and arent programmed well for what they want to achieve.

I predict they will really start to suffer in the ratings. All of a sudden, Gail will "retire". Lim is already out. Long-term talent may soon depart. Keep watching, I won't.
