mediadorkx07 0 Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 WTNH kicked off their new graphics package the other day. Clips on their website, as well as their youtube account http://www.youtube.com/wtnh Looks fantastic!
Ntropolis 599 Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 Very nice! New music too... Frequency.
qunewsguy 378 Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 Boy I'd love it if they hadn't gotten cheap with the rest of the graphics. They basically changed the font on the old lower thirds, centered up the text, changed the background on the lower portion and left it at that. The old red tab with the now non-matching font still exists. Go figure. New graphics, but the station still sucks outside of the opens. I'm not impressed one bit and I live in the market.

qunewsguy 378 Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 The station's overall presentation is still boring as hell. Stories are good, but they need more energy out of the anchors. That plus the graphics department at the station needs to put a little effort into what they're doing. You can totally tell the difference between what was done by the outside firm and what was done in-house, and the in-house stuff is still really blahhhhhhhh (rear-projection graphics, OTS elements, lower third revision, and the crappy Lucida font). This is the second Giant Octopus graphics package they've taken and turned to crap in the past 5 years.
mediadorkx07 0 Posted December 22, 2007 Author Posted December 22, 2007 They need to update the set. It doesn't go at all with the new look. And you're right about the rear projection screen - the graphics are too dark on it. I'm not fan of the font. But I do like the overall package.
TSSZNews 1052 Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 Rear projector graphics are ALWAYS trouble--no matter who's doing them. It always boggles my mind as to why management approves the use of them in sets. -T
