jdcnow 14 Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 I have studied and been a fan of news music for a while now. I've always noticed that most stations will put their best foot forward during the late-night news. I've notice that there are 3 main styles/feels of music that stations use for their late newscasts: Traditional Sax, used for years on many stations http://southernmedia-nmsa.com/audioplayer.php?version=opens&id=320 Rock/Heavy Metal http://southernmedia-nmsa.com/audioplayer.php?version=opens&id=3732 http://615music.com/core/news_music_demos.cfm >> Click on "Interceptor", should be at the top of the list. WBBM's current late-night talent bump: http://southernmedia-nmsa.com/audioplayer_main.php?version=opens&id=1072&number=3 WTOL late open and talent: http://southernmedia-nmsa.com/audioplayer.php?version=opens&id=4016 Piano See Evolution Open in Attachments. Which do you like the best? While I love WFAA's Evolution package, I must say that I voted for Rock/Heavy Metal. I just like that for a late-night news open

10Viewer 338 Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 Gari does the best late-night themes. WBNS in Columbus used to use a very sexy late night theme based on "This Is Your News" but I think elements of it are also used in "Image News". In 2004, they began using an entirely different theme for their "10TV NightBeat" newscast that is very good, but not quite as great as the previous theme. But, occasionally, the previous theme can be heard to close a 10TV newscast.
10Viewer 338 Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 "Tambourine" by John Tropea is the perfect example of superb late night theme. That music over night shots of New York would have been awe inspiring. Very edgy theme with shots of a seedy '70s New York.
