newzie 0
The Des Moines Register is reporting that Andy Fales the former weekend sports anchor at WHO-TV (now at KMBC) will be joining WHO effective immediately. He will reprise his role as coanchor of Sound Off with Keith Murphy. Fales left WHO after about 7 years for KMBC in June of 2007. This is probably got to be one of the shortest moves I can remember. Here is Fales KMBC anchor bio from KMBC.com: "Every so often you run across a television personality who transcends the traditional boundaries of the industry -- one who creates an all-new plane and inspires his peers to strive for a new level. Clearly, Andy Fales is not that guy. "I've never even met him," said Fales. "In fact, if I did meet a guy like that, I'd probably have nothing to say to him. Those overachiever-types make me feel lazy and inadequate. I avoid them like mouth fungus." Look, Andy is doing the best he can. Give him a break. He's only one man! He arrived at KMBC-TV 9 in June 2007 and is very excited to be here. "I'm very excited to be here," Fales said. "The job pays me more money than my last one, and I'm excited to be making more money than I was before." Before coming to Kansas City, Andy spent almost eight years in Des Moines, Iowa, where he was well known for his work in the WHO-TV sports department and on his weekly segment "What's Bugging Andy?" which aired, you know, weekly. Andy was happy to get the chance to move up to a big-league market, but admits he'll miss many aspects of Des Moines, particularly the beaches. "Oh, and it's also hard to leave behind such a good barbeque town," Fales said. Andy was born and raised in St. Louis, attended Kirkwood High School there and holds a degree in English from Drake University. Not surprisingly, he is also fluent in English. He began his television career at WJFW-TV in Rhinelander, Wis., in 1998. In his free time, he enjoys sleeping, eating, and doing a bunch of other stuff. He has a dog. And he used to have some fish but doesn't any more." Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/2806-andy-fales-heading-back-to-who-from-kmbc/ Share on other sites
alaskanews 113
I always thought Fales was pretty funny, other people thought he was annoying. I wonder if he was fired or if he didn't like it at KMBC Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/2806-andy-fales-heading-back-to-who-from-kmbc/#findComment-25071 Share on other sites
