Spring Rubber 703
I'm pretty sure it happened with the new year or somewhere around there, but the stylized pillar boxes are gone. I know a lot of people like the pillar boxes, but I'm glad they're gone. Subtle pillar boxes employed by some networks can be fine, but I found WBBM's to be too bright and distracting; besides, it only calls attention to the fact that the program isn't 16:9/HD. I hope the pillar boxes are gone for good. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/2844-i-noticed-wbbm-got-rid-of-those-blue-pillar-boxes/ Share on other sites

Spring Rubber 703
Until very recently, they ran "pillar boxes" on the digital channel that were visible on a 16:9 television. They were used to take up the space on the left and right side of the screen during 4:3 programming. The pillar boxes had a blue stylized background with CBS 2 logos repeated all over it.
