StormTrack8000 0 Posted January 20, 2008 Share Posted January 20, 2008 Yeah, I've heard KCCI is a pretty good station. I've also read that competition WHO-TV is catching up to KCCI. Also, I suspect that KWQC's is going to go down..way down. There is quite a controversy going on with the Cheif Meteorologist at that station (who has been there for nearly 22 years), and I've read several blogs saying "I'm switching if he's gone". I hope KWQC enjoyed their tenure at number 1, because rumor has it, the "firings" aren't going to stop there. Because I know there are some small market stations out there, mine included, that have way more than 17% viewership. And I always liked WHO better than KCCI, I hope WHO takes them down soon. Jonathan Allen Now I'm going to base this on nothing but speculation, but I'm going to say that the reason WABC claims to be "The #1 Station in the Nation" is because they are #1 in the #1 market, not that they truly have more viewers than anyone else. Can I get a WABC fanatic to back me up on this? Can I get a WABC fanatic to back me up on this? WABC has the most viewers watching them out of any television station in the country. The key word here, though, is percentage (or shares). That is why KCCI holds the rights to highest percentage of viewers watching. To break it down into simple math: WABC, since it's in the largest city, has 100 viewers available but only 40 watch...that's 40% of viewers watching. KCCI, since it's in a smaller market, has 50 viewers available and 25 watch...that's 50% of viewers watching. Get it?
