It's the Fox News Special Report open( Note the Network TV Open and not the Fox News Channel open) in the beginning, there is a countdown. Here is a question.

If the affiliate is playing local or syndicated programming and the network decides to cut into programming, is this countdown sent to the affiliate so they could have enough time to cut into programming or does the network cut into programming itself.

The affiliate knows ahead of time via a service such as CBS Newspath and NBC Newschannel. The people in Master Control then know that, say, around 3:30, the network will cut in, so when the countdown starts, they know they have less than 10 seconds left to swtch to the network feed.

You guys are forgetting about the best affiliate feed service of them all, FOX News Edge!

However, in reality, there is lots of warning that a special report will soon be coming down then network pipe. Both NBC News Channel and FOX News Edge use "squawk boxes" in the newsroom to alert assignment editors, and in turn, MC operators of special reports, coverage plans and other things that need to get out urgently. Hearing the NBC chimes and a voice saying, "This is the NBC News Channel live desk in Charlotte..." come out of nowhere was a little disconcerting at first, but you eventually get used to it.

Dude the weekend guy at Newschannel, I think his name is Mike or Nick or something like that, anyways he rings the chimes way too much for stupid shit. "This is Mike/Nick/something like that at NBC Newschannel, right now on AMC1-23Delta there are live pictures of the MegaMillions Jackpot winner from K/W---..."

:D

It is something that dumb like 5 times a day on weekends, but I never hear it during the week.

That damn squawkbox is for important stuff like, oh I don't know, another 9/11 or the president was just shot. Send me an email for your stupid shit.

(Steps off of soapbox)
