Guest cfif Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 Just saw this collage of IDs WBZ uses during their E/I "KEWLopolis" programming...do any other CBS stations/O&Os do this? http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/66/WBZ-TV_EI_ID.JPG
Geoffrey 873 Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 WCBS started doing special Saturday morning IDs back in February: http://youtube.com/watch?v=kcnwZ_vmt0A (There are a few more than what I have posted here... I haven't gotten around to putting them up yet.)
tyrannical bastard 4036 Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 WKRG uses a vintage ID probably done in the 80s using the old TV5 logo; the logo zips on to the screen comically using Hanna-Barbera-ish sound effects. It looks like it may be cel animation, or possibly early CG. It has been updated with text for digital identification. As of now, it runs on Saturday mornings and during the E/I block Wednesday mornings on the digital radar sub-channel. As for kids ID's, it's a clever idea....too bad the programming sucks! Saturday Morning television died sometime back in the 90s, especially when the E/I mandates went into place and networks started putting their programming from sister channels (ABC & Disney; CBS and Nick Jr.)
Mario500 3 Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 There are three versions of that same pink television station ID by WKRG: Shortest version ends with a “pop” sound as the red “TV” letters of the logo turn yellow. Version ends with a low piano note following the “pop” sound. Full version ends with the song “The Entertainer” following everything mentioned. I remember another (cel) animated Saturday morning station ID on TV5 with the pink TV set, but with the “5” in the station logo changing designs as music plays. There was also an announcer saying, “You’re watching WKRG-TV5”.

That's when they started turning into a Disney-produced cartoon farm system. The last nail was when they dumped Bugs Bunny and then made it a Disney Channel farm system.

It started dying when the "Big Cartoonie Show" got kicked off.
