KKyuubi 0 Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 EDIT: CONFIRMED! http://www.newsnet5.com/news/10689501/detail.html (oh yeah, the Circle 5 is coming back too! But now, who's making the graphics? VDO? Giant Octopus? Hothaus? RenderOn? In-House like WKYC?) Supposedly, WEWS (NewsChannel 5) is going HD tonight, could we have ANOTHER 3 HD Newscast market? Wow, 2 HD debuts in one weekend, we're like kids in Candy Stores this weekend...even better from what I hear, WOIO may go HD next month too (for sweeps maybe?), could we have the first market with ALL 4 BIG 4 STATIONS IN HD?! Also, someone noticed that a possible new graphic "slipped out" last night during a weather report (attached), could this will also be the return of their Circle 5?
abric 181 Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 It appears so. http://www.newsnet5.com/news/10689501/detail.html They also have a new logo based on the "classic 5" logo of years past.
Guest wfaa8fan Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 WOIO is getting new graphics too. However, WOIO won't broadcast news in HD until later in the year.
KKyuubi 0 Posted January 7, 2007 Author Posted January 7, 2007 Okay, who were the designers for the current graphics in Cleveland? I know this though: WKYC HD - In House
susquvalleywgal 520 Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Congrats to WEWS ..... Also love the new circle 5 logo. Kinda classy, kinda old school with a mix of new. Can't wait to see the new graphics. -- Matt
Ntropolis 598 Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Nice to see the return of the circle 5. Okay, who were the designers for the current graphics in Cleveland? I know this though: WKYC HD - In House WJW and WEWS are by Giant Octopus.

KKyuubi 0 Posted January 7, 2007 Author Posted January 7, 2007 this is exciting for Ohio and Cleveland Yeah, few markets have 3 HD stations (what other markets are like that?)
TVArk-Greg 0 Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 eh. I LOVE going back to the circle-5, but I don't like the altered design. If they straightened that edge of the 5, it'd look better to my eye.
Jterry 43 Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 this is exciting for Ohio and Cleveland Yeah, few markets have 3 HD stations (what other markets are like that?) I believe Atlanta is the only other one, but actually its only the two (WSB and WXIA) but WXIA has an HD 10 PM news on the local My affiliate. These are three separate news operations so this would truly be the first market with 3 HD stations/news operations.
FirstNews8 13 Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Is WEWS going to change News music? I like how they use First News. But I still like Series I better, WEWS does a good job with First News series II.
KKyuubi 0 Posted January 7, 2007 Author Posted January 7, 2007 I found this on WeatherNet5.com, is this graphic design part of the usual look or could this be a peek or sneak preview at the new graphics? (this does have the new logo) I, am not quite sure
abric 181 Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 This looks like the new graphics. kinda simple.
KKyuubi 0 Posted January 7, 2007 Author Posted January 7, 2007 This looks like the new graphics. kinda simple. But, the current graphics are like that too I think (the tab like L3's), I guess not
lugnuts6 91 Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Is it just me, or does everyone note a slight resemblance to the famed and much loved Circle 7
hinto 0 Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Is WEWS going to change News music? I like how they use First News. But I still like Series I better, WEWS does a good job with First News series II. Gari will probably shove EWN: New Generation down their throat. :
KKyuubi 0 Posted January 8, 2007 Author Posted January 8, 2007 I'll say this now so I won't forget: Screenshots (in ANY form, HD prefered) or it didn't happen
clevelandtvnews 0 Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 WEWS has finally dropped First News and picked up the overly trendy Eyewitness News: New Generation. The open should be on the NMSA soon.

KKyuubi 0 Posted January 8, 2007 Author Posted January 8, 2007 And look what I found on AVSForums...SCREENIES! Aww...just an evolution of their current graphics...but WHY ARE THE GRAPHICS IN SD QUALITY?!?!?!?!?!?! http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=9390560&post9390560
clevelandtvnews 0 Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 The graphics are an update to their current graphics package from Giant Octopus, but the open has changed completely. Oh, and last night's 11pm open was proceeded by an announcement from John Butte, the GM of the station. He was a bit long winded, but he talked about high definition for awhile. He then tossed it to the new HD control room where they counted down and rolled the open. It was kind of cool. I'll post video this evening.
TSSZNews 1052 Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Those GFX look like VDO...not Giant Octopus. -T
clevelandtvnews 0 Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 I thought the same thing (especially with the bug), but is it possible for VDO to steal some of the elements from the GO package?
