What. A. Surprise. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/3829-wgba-dumping-sports-anchors-outsourcing-sportscasts-to-tmj/ Share on other sites
Ntropolis 596
Probably depends on the market. WGBA I'm surprised because of the Packers. WTKR dumped weekday sportscasts, they only have sports on weekends but cover local sports on weekdays if needed. WWAY also does not have a sports department. WTEN tried dumping sports a couple years ago, but brought it back. Que 73
DFW is a big sports market, like Nathan said, it depends on the market. who?cares 254
I don't look for any stations to outsource here, Indy is a HUGE sports market. Dave Lampstein 110
Well I don't think he means everywhere, in major markets, etc... jestbiteme 13
. WTEN tried dumping sports a couple years ago, but brought it back. Chuck, Didn't WTRF try the same thing? Having the anchors read sports? Or they did an L-bar with sports scores during the last block, or something. Funny, they tried to kill local sports, but we still had to suffer through Bray Cary's Inside Nascar. They ended up bringing that back and losing the poorly produced Nascar segment. There was also talk of dumping/cutting back sports at KDKA a few years ago, but nothing ever happened with that. CDubya87 0
KSNW did the same thing. They dumped sports and then ended up bringing it back. Then they got Jim Kobbe. "Hey, Fuck Off Buzz!" rtmclaug 68
This'll be interesting to watch. WGBA's ratings could drop drastically. Only time will tell.
