Those political conventions this summer !!!

This summer the Republician convention is going to be held in St. Paul while the Democrats, they will be having their convention in Denver.

Wonder how many local stations will be on hand in both of those cities to cover the events? Around my neck of the woods ( western Maryland ) I am pretty sure one our local AM stations is doing something from the democratic convention only because one of their employees lives in Colorado.

Also I heard that a few of the more conservative television stations aren't happy with the choice of city for the democratic convention...Denver !! Mainly because of that city's "liberal" views such as Denver's stance on gay rights and marijuana ( In Denver city one can smoke a joint in front of a cop without fear of being arrested ). I know our local anti-drug group isn't happy with the city of Denver. Still though with that being said, If a station for example sends a newsteam to St. Paul to cover the Republicians don't they have to do the same with the Democratics in Denver? I would imagine they have to or is that "equal time" rule still in place?

KGMB of all stations is sending people to the mainland to cover the conventions. The stunningly dapper weeknight anchor Keahi Tucker will be covering the Democratic convention and reporting live from Denver. The Republican Convention meanwhile is going to be covered by the overly busy 4:30am anchor/morning reporter Ramsay Wharton.

I think it'd be more equal if the same people who covered the dems cover the republicans as well, but that's just me.

Capital News 9 (Albany, NY) is sending people, which means time warner cable is sending people for NY1 and will share people for all of its news channels, i think...this should be the best local coverage, even though its a 24 channel

as for our normal newschannels...i wish they would. I'd love to see wten (Young Owned) redeem them selfs by doing so, but I don't think so. I do feel local channels should send their people to cover events like this, the Olympics, 9-11 anniversary, and other National stories; that's just my opinion.
